NEW DELHI: India’s leading online fashion platform Jabong announced its partnership for the 13th Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon (SCMM) to be held on January 17, 2016.
One of the premier running events in the country, SCMM sees participation from top athletes and running aficionados from across the world. Over 40,000 participants will sweat it out this year.
In its second year of association with SCMM and partnership with a multitude of other sporting events, Jabong has fast established itself as one of the leading sports advocates in India.
“Running is the fastest growing sport in India and our association with premier running events symbolizes our embodiment of the sport. Not only do we provide exemplary gear for running enthusiasts, our ‘Jabong run in costume’ gives the casual runners an opportunity to dress and sprint in creative costumes, depicting socially relevant themes” says Sanjeev Mohanty, CEO and MD, Jabong.
The ‘Run in costume’, which is a signature property of Jabong, gives participants a chance to win cash prizes by dressing up in creative clothes.
In a bid to support the athletic spirit in the country, Jabong recently launched the the latest edition of ASICS’ re-engineered iconic footwear line GT 2000 series – the GT 2000-4. It is available exclusively on Jabong until January 20.
“Sportswear contributes significantly to our pan-India revenue. While we are the leading fashion destination in the country, the aim is to exploit the online sportswear category through our association with major sporting events such as SCMM,” adds Mohanty.
As part of its continued effort to raise awareness for sports in India, Jabong has added interactive components for Running, Football, Basketball, Cricket, Training, and Tennis under the sports section on its website.
Jabong hosts a dedicated page to provide tips and information on premium running events across the country.
In the past, it has tied up with many prominent running events such as the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon, TATA Steel Kolkata 25K Run and TCS Bangalore 10k Run, and has been associated with a number of sporting events such as the NBA Jam, and Five-a-side Football Jabong Turf War.
