Indian economy has to be put on sounder platform and our fundamentals have to be strong enough, Jaitley said at the National Cost Convention.

The Indian economy has to be put on sounder platform and our fundamentals have to be strong enough, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said at the 57th National Cost Convention here.

The government is not against the concept of subsidy he added Jaitley.

The Finance Minister also stated that he doesn't  agree that rupee is in a free-fall mode, however he mentioned that the rupee has weakened least compared to most other currencies.

He also assured that the two or three legacy tax issues left would be sorted out expeditiously.

He also said that there must not be unfair taxation, such assessment would brings only bad name, not revenue.
