CHENNAI: American IT major ASG Technologies on Monday announced the setting up of its first development centre in Asia in Chennai. The unit will be the firm’s third unit worldwide and will serve ASG’s global clients, said the company in a statement.
ASG’s entry to India comes amid mounting pressure in the United States for American firms to protect local jobs, especially from the Trump administration at the White House.
“The new facility is part of the global infrastructure enabling ASG Technologies to innovate, collaborate and engage in continuous product development for all the company’s products,” said the company. The company’s third global development location in Chennai will complement similar units in New York and Barcelona, respectively. According to ASG, the facility will have staff working on various technologies, ranging from cloud solutions to mainframe, towards development for the company’s growth products and providing continuity for products that are critical to its customers.
“This centre in India completes the full circle of development and innovation that we had mapped to transform ASG Technologies into an agile and innovative company”, ASG Technologies, CEO, Charles Sansbury said.
“Our new development centre in Chennai provides an opportunity for product engineers to work on exciting technologies and build mission critical solutions that power global businesses,” said ASG Technologies, Chief Product Officer and Executive VP, Swamy Viswanathan.
In November last year, ASG Technologies has expanded partnership that integrates the offerings of Wipro’s Data Management Centre of Excellence (CoE) with ASG’s Enterprise Data Intelligence solution to improve compliance for the global financial services companies.
