BANGALORE: A 23-year-old lecturer committed suicide in the city on Thursday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Sneha (23), a lecturer at East-West College. It is learnt that Sneha, after returning from work, ended her life by hanging herself from a ceiling fan in her residence under Nandini Layout police station limits. The reason behind the act is yet to be ascertained.

In another incident, Jyoti (22) committed suicide by pouring kerosene and setting herself ablaze under the same police station limits.

She took the extreme step when her husband Girish was away at work. A case has been registered.

Sisters commit suicide Meanwhile, two aged sisters committed suicide in Yeshawanthapura police station limits by pouring kerosene on themselves and setting themselves ablaze. The deceased are Kamala (47), a widow and her sister Sulochana (55), residents of Mattikere.

They ended their lives when Kamala’s sons were asleep at home, police said. They were rushed to a nearby hospital where Kamala died on Friday at 4 am, while Sulochana succumbed to injuries at 10 am. Financial crisis is suspected to be the reason.

Woman bludgeoned to death A 45-year-old woman was allegedly bludgeoned to death by her neighbour over a trivial issue under Yelahanka New Town police station limits on Thursday night.

The victim Gowramma was killed by her neighbour Bheemrao.

It is learnt that Gowramma and her husband Anjaneyappa were in conversation with Mahadevamma, second wife of Bheemrao.

As the conversation ended in a quarrel, Bheemrao allegedly took the extreme step and killed Gowramma.

The police have taken Bheemrao into custody.
