BANGALORE: The Justice BK Somashekara Commission on Friday adjourned its hearing on the affidavit against Christians, filed by Bajrang Dal convenor Mahendra Kumar, to May 18.

Kumar had filed the affidavit alleging that a few Christian missionaries have been doing forcible conversions in the state and institution like ‘New Life’ was meant for forcible conversions. Kumar will depose his statement on May 25. He alleged that while canvassing Christianity, New Life had shown disrespect to Hindu culture.

“God and Goddesses of the Hindus have been shown as villains in the controversial book ‘Satya Darshini’ published by Paravastu Sathyanarayana. I have personally visited the place where Christian missionaries have been spreading Christianity,” Mahendra Kumar has said in the affidavit.

“In remote areas of the state, missionaries like New Life are persuading poor people to embrace Christianity and I had opposed the same in Koppa and M’lore,” Kumar added.
