BANGALORE: Work related stress has been ruled out as the reason behind the suicide of a head constable of the CISF at the Bengaluru International Airport (BIA) on May 14.

CISF Commandant DK Singh said that 45-year-old Eshwar Singh who had shot himself from a point blank range had shown no signs of work pressure. The stress factor is ruled out, as the head constable was on leave in April and had recently reported back to work after returning from his native in Haryana, he added.

“Stress has been ruled out, as all CISF personnel are given adequate rest periods and regular offs. In Eshwar Singh’s case he was on leave for three weeks and had never spoken about work pressure to any of his colleagues,” Singh told the Express.

The CISF Commandant said that family problems could be one of the reasons behind the head constable’s suicide, however it cannot be confirmed as he never conveyed about anything to his colleagues.

“In the past, in case of any stress be it work related or personal, CISF personnel come forward and express their problems.

If I had been on duty on May 14, perhaps Eshwar Singh would have come to me with his problem and we could have solved his problem,” said Singh who was on leave on the day the head constable shot himself in the airport.
