The city-based rock/ post rock/alternative band is back on stage.

Lounge Piranha will perform at BFlat on May 7, 8.30 pm.

It promises to rock the night with songs from its album Going Nowhere as well as new material which borders on the lines of alternative rock and punk.

Formed in 2005 and having gigged heavily around India since then, Lounge Piranha has gathered a steady fan following in Bangalore and across the country.

The band is known for its unique brand of sounds and visuals, with support from a didgeridoo player and a DJ.

The members include George Mathen, Kamal Singh and Abhijeet Tambe with support from Shalini Mohan, Pervez Rajan and Rahul Giri.

George is an artist by day and fully in control of the drum kit by night. He is also the mind behind the band’s visual identity and website.

Kamal takes control of the guitar and vocals. He uses lots of alternate tuning and open strings.

While Abhijeet on guitar and vocals, emerges from the tangle of the electronic loops in his studio to provide the ambient soundscapes with lots of guitar delay and reverb.

Shalini takes on bass, Pervez, who plays the didjeridoo, jews harp (morsing), flute, is is also the official photographer of the band.

Rahul/DJ Neurotesque is a laptop artist.

Lounge Piranha’s demo from 2006 ‘Yours Forever’ won the band the Indian TFA award for music in early 2007.

In October 2008, the band released its debut album ‘Going Nowhere’, which was rated No 4 by ‘Rolling Stone’ magazine for the category of releases in India that year, and followed it up with a sixcity- tour around India on its own tour bus.
