BANGALORE: Preparations are on in Shiva temples across the city for Maha Shivratri, which is widely celebrated by Hindus around the world today. Members of Someshwaraswamy temple said all necessary arrangements including security, volunteer service, accommodation of devotees and cleaning of temples would be completed before Tuesday evening. Also, preparations have been made to make sure that devotees get easy access to the temple for worshiping. Food would be provided for devotees from faraway places while proper arrangement for drinking water, medical and other emergency services have been made.

More than 20,000 visitors from around the city are expected on the day of the festival.

Cultural programmes like singing devotional songs, bharatanatyam, plays and Harikathe will be held on the occasion, said Manjunath, member of the temple trust.

The Shiva temple in Domlur which is known to be the tallest shiv temple has organised a grand puja on the occasion of Maha Shivratri.

Jana Janeyara Balaga is organising Nage Jagarane at Sirur Park Playground, osite Mantri Mall on Wednesday at 7.30 pm till Thursday 6 am.
