IPL 5: Fans root for Kohli

BANGALORE: The Royal Challengers Bangalore’s spectacular win was an unbelievable treat that all Bangaloreans awaited with bated breath at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday.Rohit Singh, a BPO employee said, “What better way it could be to celebrate your weekend. The first match of RCB in IPL 5 and they win it in style. I wish I could be part of all the RCB matches but the astronomical ticket prices put your spirits down.”

The euphoria in and around the stadium was huge as fans were pouring in from 2 pm onwards, wearing red jerseys, carrying red flags, painting their faces red and yellow and wearing wigs.

The entire stadium painted in red was a visual treat. It looks like the last century scored by Virat Kohli has put him on a pedestal as huge number of fans came to witness this man’s stylish play.

Kalyan Manundar, a businessman said, “I have come here with my three kids and brother-in-law. We planned to witness the IPL match at the stadium only because of the children’s insistence and it was worth it, they are big fans of Virat Kohli and they were super excited.”

Voicing a similar opinion, Dheeraj Kanchan, a resident of J P Nagar who had painted his face in red and yellow, said, “Undoubtedly it is Virat Kohli, the Vice Captain of Indian team that I’m looking forward to and seeing him play in this whole tournament. He has great talent and his aggression on the field pumps me up.” However, many Chris Gayle fans were left disappointed since he was not playing due to an injury.

Nandini Balu said, “I am a huge fan of Chris Gayle and I was hoping to see some fireworks from him but since he is not playing, it was a big disappointment.”

On the other hand, Delhi Daredevil supporters went home disappointed on their defeat. Vivek Raj adds, “I am not happy as things did not pan out well for Delhi.

After the win against KKR, I had hoped for the same against RCB. I hope Sehwag gets his form back. Although it is a good start for the RCB, they have a long way to go. This time around Delhi Daredevils have a well balanced team and I hope they come back with a big bang.”
