BANGALORE: This is not the first time Farooq has tried to kill his child, Reshma Banu alleged. “On Wednesday around 4.30 am, he tried to smother her by stuffing a ‘dupatta’ in her mouth and pressing a pillow against her face. Luckily, I woke up to feed and did not find her. After a while, I found her beneath the bed in an unconscious state. The next day she was given poison mixed with biscuit by her father. Immediately, I shifted to her to Ambedkar Hospital and she survived,” she accused.
Farooq had allegedly divorced his first wife Nusrath Jha, who was studying medicine.
“I married him 14 months ago following my family’s insistance. Whenever I ask him about his first wife, he says that she was influenced by evil spirits and that’s why he divorced her.,” Reshma added.
