BANGALORE: Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Standing Committee Chairperson for Health has asked people not to panic about H1N1 spreading in the city as BBMP has geared up to tackle the disease. Speaking to reporters on Monday, Geetha Shashikumar, Committee chairperson said that so far only 58 people have been diagnosed with H1N1. Four of them died and only two of them were from Bangalore. Remaining two are from Kolar and Chikballapur, she clarified. She also said that out of the 58 affected, seven are not from Bangalore.

Further Geetha said that BBMP is all set to tackle H1N1. “There is no need to panic,” she said.

She said that if they found any H1N1 patient, the BBMP health team will visit his or her house to examine other family members. She also asked people  to keep their houses clean. “It’s summer here and number of mosquitoes are increasing. People should keep their houses clean to prevent mosquitoes,” she said.
