BANGALORE: The Safai abhiyan activity initiative by Genpact in Bangalore is getting kick-started with the cleaning of the weeds in a lake in south Bangalore’s Puttenahalli area on April 14.

According to a release, the initiative is aimed at increasing awareness towards conserving environment. “We are planning for community activities so as to make an impact together as an organization. The Safai Abhiyaan Week is one of the Genpact global initiatives and we in Bangalore are contributing to this go-green initiative as our bit towards a cleaner and greener environment,” the organisers said in a release.

The Puttenahalli Lake is in the vicinity of two residential enclaves. It had shrunk and became a marshy garbage dump due to gross neglect. “This has resulted in shortage of open spaces for people, depletion of ground water, change in city temperature and pollution levels and destruction of bird habitats,” the release said.
