BANGALORE: Dejected over their parents’ refusal for their marriage, a 19-year-old youth and an 18-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a well at Lakshmipura village in Anekal on the outskirts of the city.
The deceased Chandrashekhar and Chandrika, both residents of Mutthur, a neighbouring village of Lakshmipura, were missing since Friday afternoon and were found dead in a well on Sunday.
According to the police, Chandrashekhar and Chandrika were in a relationship since three years.
Their parents were aware of their relationship but had refused for the alliance as they belonged to different castes.
It is suspected that dejected over this, the duo took the extreme step.
“Chandrashekhar is reportedly a good swimmer.
He had tied his hands and legs with a rope before jumping into the well.
He had also tied Chandrika to his waist,” police said.
