BANGALORE: Some of the most premier residential clubs in the city had got together for a first-of-its-kind sporting carnival called Club Wars, which was held over a period of one-and-a-half months. Battling it out were some of the best sporting talents from top 10 clubs in Bangalore, in disciplines like cricket, tennis, badminton, table tennis, swimming and billiards.
The annual grand finale, co-hosted by Indiranagar Club and Bowring Institute was held on 22nd April at the Bowring Institute. Other than the prize distribution, the event comprised a fashion show by the Catholic Club and Bowring Institute, a series of dance performances and a couple of fun events for the audience which was present in large numbers.
Cricketing legend Syed Kirmani, model Tarun Arora, model Vaishali Ramaswamy, Miss South India 2011 pageant winner Laxmi Anand and Joint Commissioner of Police, Bangalore, B N S Reddy (City Armed Reserve) were present on the day of the grand finale.
Club Wars has drawn inspiration from cop-cum-sports enthusiast B N S Reddy. Next year, Club Wars would see teams from Hyderabad, Chennai, Kochi and Goa touching down in Bangalore - probably taking the war cry to different levels. Club Wars-I had teams from Indiranagar Club, Bowring Institute, KBA, HSR, ECA, Bangalore City Institute, Catholic Club and Domlur Club fighting it out for the prized Silver Rolling Trophy.
