BANGALORE: Fearing she might score low marks in II PUC results, an 18-yearold girl allegedly committed suicide by hanging at her residence in Lingarajpuram on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Pratibha Devi, a Commerce student at Government Preuniversity College at Audugodi.

According to the police, the incident took place around 12.30 pm when Pratibha was alone at home and hanged herself to the ceiling, using a dupatta.

Her father, Jayasheelan, a security guard at a private company, found her hanging when he returned home. Immediately, he informed the police.

Based on the basic investigations, the police said Pratibha had fear about getting less marks in the examinations.

She was under pressure, which could be a reason for her to take this extreme step, they added.
