BANGALORE: Kathriguppe councillor D Venkatesh Murthy on Thursday was elected unopposed as Mayor of Bangalore. Padmanabhanagar ward councillor L Srinivas was also elected unopposed as Deputy Mayor. Fifty-four-year-old Murthy is a BCom graduate.

At his maiden press conference, Murthy said that he would be accessible to citizens and promised to visit one constituency a week. Like Murthy, deputy mayor Srinivas is also a resident of Padmanabhanagar. They are both councillors for neighbouring wards.
