Members of the Corporation, Municipality, Town Municipality Pourakarmika Union have welcomed the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike’s (BBMP) decision not to terminate services of pourakarminaks working with BBMP on contract basis.
M Narayan, Union president, said the government has agreed to grant eleven months arrears, uniforms and essential accessories required by employees for garbage collection.
“The government has agreed to provide all the demands put-forth by the pourakaramikas at the meeting held among the Labour Department officials, BBMP and the pourakaramika representatives on Thursday. The agreement between the pourakaramikas and the new contractors will be signed on December 15”, Narayan said. The pourakarmikas had gone on a strike demanding the BBMP to consider their demands which included employment benefits.
