Five held for home-alone woman’s murder

Madiwala police have solved the murder case of a 32-year-old home-alone woman.

The victim, Zabina Taj, was found murdered at her house in Rupena Agrahara in Madiwala police station limits on November 23.

The police said it was a murder for gain as the assailants were arrested by Vyalikaval police when they were pledging the booty in a pawn-broker shop the next day, highly placed sources said.

The whereabouts of the accused are yet to be ascertained. All are aged between 25 and 30 years.

Zabina Taj, a resident of Virat Layout, was smothered to death and the assailants had made away jewellery worth Rs 12 lakh.

According to the sources, among the five accused, the prime accused had planned the crime and he had given information to the others. He had observed the movements of her family.

It is also said that one of them is a habitual offender and cases have been registered against him at various police stations.

They had murdered Zabina when her husband Babu had gone to a nearby mosque with his elder son, the police said.
