Karnataka: Five year-old girl mauled by stray dogs

A five year-old girl wasinjured in an attack by a pack of stray dogs while she wasplaying near her house at Nagashettihalli, police said today.

The child, who was bitten on her cheeks, neck andears, was immediately rushed to hospital, police said.

According to Parviz Ahmad Piran, Joint Director,Animal Husbandry Department Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike(city corporation), the girl will be under observation for 10days.

Noting that the stray dog menace can be controlledonly through birth control, Piran said out of around 4 lakhstray dogs in the city, three lakh have already beensterilised.
