A visual treat for art lovers

Catch a unique exhibition by A Shashikala at Chitrakala Parishath on December 15 and 16.

At the age of 62, Professor A Shashikala is a multifaceted personality with amazing zest for life.

Apart from having many years of teaching experience, she is also a social worker, Carnatic music vocalist and Veena player.

Her artistic repertoire extends to amateur photography, indelible Indian ink sketches and oil paintings.

Armed with a very small and ordinary camera, Shashikala’s eyes spot and capture wonders that we often see fail to appreciate.

She draws inspiration from a variety of images, objects, nature, food and human beings.

Her images are thought provoking, profound, contemplative and colourful.

The indelible Indian ink sketches are mainly dedicated to Shashikala’s specialty -- Zoology.

Some general sketches like the Twin Tigers and Belur Shilabalika were mainly created for friends and show her skills.

The paintings mainly display her take on life and were done at some significant times in her life.
