Sonu, 14, an eighth standard student, hanged herself at her residence near Maruthi Circle in Hanumanthanagar police station limits on Wednesday afternoon. The reason for the incident is yet to be ascertained.

Sonu was the only daughter of Ravi, a head constable, at Traffic Training Institute on M G Road.

She was studying at a private school near Vidyapeeta Circle.

Police said that Sonu had returned from school in the afternoon, and had lunch at her grandmother’s house, which is near her house. Later, she went to her house and ended her life. Police added that her parents had gone out when the incident took place. She has not left any suicide note.

“Her parents are in shock and we will be able to know the reason only after questioning them,” the Hanumanthanagar police, who have registered a case said. They are further investigating in this connection.
