Selfishness goes out of the door

Now we come to the fourth step. When you remove pride and vanity, what else do you have within your mind? Nothing.

There is nothing because step one, two and three taken together are what we call Surrender. You have already surrendered unknowingly to God.

So, what is step four then? As soon as you start cultivating this habit, without your knowledge, all of you will start closing your eyes.

You will close your eyes and think only of God. You will even forget to ask for anything. You will forget all your wants. You will forget all your desires and you will start closing your eyes and thinking only about God. This process is step four.

And what is this step called? Meditation. So, step four is Meditation. As soon as you begin with the first step and follow it up with the second and third steps, you automatically land up at the fourth step; that is Meditation.

You don’t feel like opening your eyes at all, for whatever reason. You no longer feel constrained by time. You don’t feel pressurised at all. You don’t feel subjugated. You will never experience any negative states at all. You will simply close your eyes and go on thinking about God. As you start practising this, many things will be revealed to you.

And what are these revelations? The first and the foremost revelation is that you will understand is who you are. You will begin to forget the identity pertaining to your body consciousness.

You will become aware of that real ‘You’, with which you are born. That real you which is the beautiful energy called God.

As soon as you start finding out about your Self, your personality starts changing. How does it change? There is a glow on your face and a beautiful feeling overpowers you.

And what is that feeling? The feeling of love.

A feeling of Universal Love. What happens when that feeling dawns? Selfishness goes out of the door. It goes out of the door of your Soul. Selfishness which is onepointedness towards yourself goes away. You have already started understanding yourself.
