In a cartoon exhibition held in the city cartoonist Hadimani showcased his best collections of art. “The  art of caricature is about studying the person and knowing what features should be exaggerated in such a manner that at one glance people should recognise the person, ” said Hadimani at the Indian cartoon Gallery starting. The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr Chandrashekhara Kambar, Jnanpith Awardee. On the occasion, Dr Chadrashekara Kambar said, “I was inspired by Picassos paintings, simplicity of lines in those paintings can be seen in these caricatures. Also these paintings reflect history in a humorous manner.”

Caricatures on display are mostly of political and popular figures - favourite subjects of Hadimani. Humour works brilliantly with politicians and celebrities like Amitabh Bachan, Dalai Lama, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar , Pratibha Patel, Manmohan Singh, Lalu Prasad Yadav etc.

Around 63 selected caricatures and illustrations created by Hadimani are on display at the exhibition. The exhibition will be on for public till February 11, 2012 at The Indian Cartoon Gallery, No 1, Midford Gardens, Behind Big Kids Kemp, Off MG Road, Bangalore- 1, except on Sundays.

Hadimani started his career as an artist in a Kannada weekly. Hadimani worked as a staff artist for a political weekly news magazine. Hadimani even worked in a weekly English magazine as a chief illustrator for 11 years.  The exhibition is expected to gather  more audience in the coming days. Hadimani said, “Bangaloreans has always appreciated art in all forms. And this time will be no different.”
