BANGALORE: BBMP Commissioner M K Shankaralinge Gowda said that the maintenance work of Sirsi Circle flyover, including replacement of expansion joints, will be completed by April.

Replying to a query by Chamarajpet Councillor B V Ganesh, he said that there are some design and technical issues related to the flyover. Engineer-in-Chief B T Ramesh explained that the flyover was inaugurated in 1997. “We have invited tenders seven times since 2005 but did not get the suitable party who can undertake the maintenance work. Now the tender has been finalised and we have released Rs 2.65 crore for the purpose. Work order has been issued to the Consultancy for design, which is yet to get approval from the contractor,” he explained.

To a query by Hampinagar Councillor R Chandrashekaraiah who demanded the completion of the works undertaken by BBMP near Gali Anjaneya temple, the Commissioner said that they are seeking permission from Karnataka State Pollution Control Board to remove silt from the drain next to the temple. “There is a need to widen the vent of Bapujinagar bridge,” he said.
