BANGALORE: In Jnanabharathi police station limits, Sunil, 30, a ward boy at KIMS Hospital, was murdered by unidentified miscreants in Nagarabavi on Saturday. The police said that victim and his friends Megharaj, a realtor, Narasimha Murthy and another person attended annual day celebrations of a school. The four friends headed to Mariyappanapalya in a car, when about 10-12 assailants waylaid their car in Kenguntte. The miscreants, who had come in a car and an auto rickshaw, reportedly demanded `10,000 cash and Sunil’s friends refused to give the money. However, the accused allegedly thrashed and robbed them of cash.

“Meanwhile, Sunil jumped out of the car and tried to escape. But the assailants attacked him in Nagarbhavi second stage. The assailants dropped a boulder and smashed his head and killed him on the spot,” the police added. It is suspected that one Golla Manja and his associates are behind the murder and the police have registered a case.

Family Welfare Programme                  at Central Prison

Bangalore: The second annual family welfare programme of prison personnel was held at the premises of Parappana Agrahara Central Prison on Sunday. The prison staff and their family members took part in the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, the Additional Director General of Police of the Prisons Department K V Gagandeep said that the prison staff were working under tremendous pressure and their works were on par with the policemen. “It is very important to ensure that the staff are provided with good amenities. All steps would be taken to see that the staff are provided with better facilities,”  he assured the gathering.
