BANGALORE: The Police Department filed objections on the petition filled by Kumar Jahgirdar, biological father of cricketer Anil Kumble’s custodial daughter Aaruni, seeking action against the department for not taking action on Kumble for allegedly forging his signature in daughter’s passport.

The department, in its objections, stated  that they issued a notice to Kumble and he replied stating that Jagirdar’s charges were ‘false’, ‘baseless’ and aimed at ‘tarnishing’ his image.

He further said that he had simply signed as Anil Kumble in the passport application filed on behalf of Aaruni as her caretaker because she is still a minor and living with them. Kumble also said that he did not describe himself as her ‘natural or biological father’, the police told the court.

The police further stated in the objection, “Since Kumble has not at all represented himself either Kumar Jahgirdar or natural father of Aaruni, the complaint and the documents do not disclose that either Chethana (Aaruni’s mother and former wife of Jahgirdar) or Anil Kumble have committed forgery, impersonation or cheating or any cognisable offence. It cannot be said that both have committed any offence as alleged in the complaint.”

Hearing the petition, Justice Abdul Nazeer adjourned the matter for further hearing.
