BANGALORE: The High Court on Wednesday directed the State government to submit a detailed report on closing down the Vasanthanagar post office within 15 days, with the photographs. The court gave this direction while hearing a PIL seeking reopening of the post office.

Petitioner and party-in-person Satinderpal Chopra  stated that Vasanthanagar post office situated in Millers Road was closed without giving any reason and the residents in the locality were  facing problems.  The post office is demolished by the BBMP and now they are planning to build a parking complex, he alleged. Hearing the petition, the Division Bench directed the State government to submit a report on the issue and further directed Chief Post Master General, Karnataka Circle, to be present on the next date of hearing.

2 Petitions on  G-category Sites

The High Court on Wednesday placed two petitions in connection with irregularities in allotment of G-category sites to the division bench. City-based advocate V Vasudeva filed a PIL and challenged the allotment of 249 sites by former CM H D Kumaraswamy. He said procedures were not followed when the sites were allotted and he wanted the court to quash the allotments. Hearing the petition by Vasudeva the Division Bench posted the matter to the division bench comprising Justice KL Manjunath and Justice Suri Appa Rao, as the bench is hearing the similar petition challenging allotment of 66 sites to MLAs.
