Bangalore: Teacher held for raping student

BANGALORE: A 68-year-old teacher, who allegedly raped a fifth standard student and threatened to murder her, was arrested by K R Puram police. Irked by the incident, the victim’s family members and public ransacked the school. The accused Krishnamurthy, was teaching Mathematics, Science and Sanskrit at KNSS School at Anandapuram. He is a retired ITI employee residing at ITI Layout. It is alleged that the accused raped the 12-year-old girl for the last one month.

The police said that the incident came to light when the girl’s mother grew suspicious about the victim’s behaviour who had fallen ill.

K R Puram police have registered a case.

Mother Kills Kid, Self

A woman fed poison and killed her three-and-a-half-year-old daughter and  ended life by consuming it at her residence in Bhadrappa Layout on Tuesday. The deceased are Hemavathi, 33, and Yukta. She was married to Rangaswamy, a mechanic, for seven years. The police said that Rangaswamy had gone to work and the incident came to light when he returned home.

A suicide note by Hemavathi states she is responsible for her death
