The students of Chettinad Vidyashram celebrated the second anniversary of the Math Club on February 16. Correspondent Dr Meena Muthiah and principal Amudha Lakshmi presided over the occasion.

Dignitaries at the Math Club anniversary function held at Chettinad Vidyashram on Thursday

The students of Chettinad Vidyashram celebrated the second anniversary of the Math Club on February 16. Correspondent Dr Meena Muthiah and principal Amudha Lakshmi presided over the occasion.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by vice principal  G S Ganesan, who was the brain behind the club. Chief guest R Ramanujam, professor, the Institute of Mathematical Sciences, distributed prizes to the winners.

The correspondent inaugurated the club’s website and released the journal Look through the Mathescope. The first copy was received by the chief guest.

The Math Club which has over 2,800 members has introduced interesting activities including solving non-routine problems, sudoku and origami. This year being the 125th birth anniversary year of Srinivasa Ramanujan and National Mathematics Year, the club will conduct competitions and presentations every month during the school assembly.
