BANGALORE: The armed forces’ long term integrated perspective plan would soon be in the public domain, opined Vice-Admiral Shekar Sinha, chief of the Integrated Defence Staff. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the II International Conference on Electronic Warfare in the city on Wednesday, he said that the perspective plan would be to cater to about 15 years of their (armed forces) operational requirements. He also stated that the plan was soon likely to be passed by the government.

“Economic growth of India has allowed corporate players to undertake unconventional business challenges,” he said and added that credible corporate houses must be identified to play a role in speedy and quality delivery of Electronic Warfare systems. He, however, pointed out that the long gestation period between research and development was resulting in the product turning obsolete during the time of induction.

Inferring the demand and supply lacuna, he said that there was a time delay from conceptualisation to actual delivery of products. Emphasizing the importance of encouraging private industries to widen the capacity of the industry, he said that the 15 year perspective would be to get the private industry to develop as part of joint venture activities.
