It is all about the ‘mane’ attraction

Your wardrobe maybe packed, or even overflowing with the season’s trendy outfits, accessories and footwear, but what about your hair? No look is complete without the perfect hair-do to complement it. Here are a few looks that you could sport this season.

Though a tad late, India has literally welcomed hair chemicals with arms wide open. Be it the colours or the styling products. Many hair experts in the city assert that a hair style is not just about the cut, it is in fact about the cut and the styling that follows. The wet look and sleek hairdos have hit the international runways in a big way. Go nuts with hair mousse and serums to get that sophisticated look.

But if the sleek look is too cumbersome for you, opt for the braids. The plaits are a classic style that have been around for ages. The great thing about the braid is that it can be worn during the day and the night, and it keeps the hair in check as well. For the day, the sleeker braid would be a better option. However, the messy plait with a few strands left astray here and there can do wonders to increase the oomph factor for those night outs. If there is time on hand, get a little creative with the braids. Toss them over the head or wear it on the side, the options and styles are endless.

The retro style is another alternative. The look can be achieved by rolling the hair and pulling it up. Though it does require a bit of practice, the end result will guarantee countless second glances. A word of advice — fill the rolls with sponge to avoid it going limp.

As the classic hairdos and nostalgic retro updos make a come back, natural waves and sleek hairstyles are here to stay. Flowing locks and beach waves or a natural untouched look is an easy and effortless and yet a trendy hairstyle. Complement it with funky head and

hair accessories.

Waves have always been in. Those born with soft natural waves can count themselves as the lucky ones, as their hair would look gorgeous left open or tied in a pony.

Speaking of ponies, the sleek pulled back hair has been all over the Spring/Summer 2012 runway. Whether it’s a side-parted bun or a high ponytail the front hair is pulled back and made sleek almost reaching the wet look, which is also very popular for this season.

Chic and elegant updos are also in, but there is a catch. This time it is all about making them look a bit messy and tousled. Turn a classic ‘do’ into a messy affair with a few strands left hanging loose and natural over the shoulders.
