Hard Rock Cafe invited Hyderabad-based band Alter Egoz to pay a tribute to Guns N’ Roses on Thursday. Fans have often remarked about the Guns N’ Roses guitarist: Whenever Slash plays a note, it is beautiful; whenever he plays a wrong note, it is brilliant. But, when this band played, the audience indulged in their food or smart phones rather than listening to the music. The performance was nothing more than an amateur singing at a karaoke night. Even though it is hard to pay tribute to  G N’ R, it felt like Alter Egoz was not even trying.  Apart from the vocals, the band failed to cover its singers’ off notes too. However, they did play a few of the best songs of G N’ R, which allowed the crowd to sing it out loud.

They covered few famous numbers such as ‘Paradise City’, ‘Don’t Cry’, ‘November Rain’ and ‘Knocking on Heaven’s Doors’. Playing these numbers saved the night with the audience singing out loud their favourite numbers.  Alter Egoz is known for their covers of Pink Floyd and other 80’s bands in Hyderabad. The band members include Praveen (drums), Som (vocals), Vijay (guitar), Keith (guitar), Loki-Pai (bass) and Suhit (keyboard). Som told City Express, “This is the first time, we were invited to play in Bangalore. We don’t usually cover G N’ R. But, for this gig, I started listening to them. I was familiar with only a few of their more famous songs. While practicing for this gig, I got to understand the band a lot more than before.”Quiz them more on their visit here and they are thrilled. “Bangalore has some of the best bands in India today. The crowd here supports local artists much more than in our hometown. People encourage music here. In Hyderabad the scope is very

limited.

About Guns n’ Roses

During the mid 1980s, the music scene across the world was shifting and people welcomed new artistes. Around this time, a new band was formed that took music to unchartered territory. The band was called Guns N’ Roses (G N’R).

It was formed in March 1985 by lead vocalist Axl Rose and rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin. They got along with lead guitarist Tracii Guns, bassist Ole Beich, and later drummer Rob Gardner joined the band. They coined the band’s name by combining their surnames. Despite several line up changes that followed, the band is one of the most loved bands mainly because of Rose’s lyrics and Slash’s mind-blowing guitar solos. The band created five albums in the late 1990’s. Their last album Chinese Democracy was released in 2008.
