BANGALORE: The J P Nagar police arrested eight people in connection with the murder case of Ravi Kumar alias Mico Ravi. The accused have been identified as Balu Murugan alias Kariya Balu, 23, Anil, 22, Balaraj alias Balu, 23, all residents of Jayanagar, Raghavendra alias Raghu alias Honda, 23, of J P Nagar, Shiva alias Koli Fayaz, 21, Chandra Babu alias Babu, 21, both residents of K G Nagar, Harish Kumar alias Onte, 21, of Hanumanthanagar and Jagadish alias Jumuki Jaggi, 20, of Chamarajpet. The accused had hacked Mico Ravi, a reformed rowdy to death in front of his residence near Ragigudda on Thursday. Ravi was the union leader at the MICO factory in Adugodi.

According to the police, the victim was a close aide of notorious gangsters Arasaiah and Aluminium Babu and was earlier residing in Jayanagar T Block.

At their insistence, Mico Ravi had allegedly murdered one, Jelly Venkatesh, and a history-sheet was opened against him in Tilaknagar police station.

“On July 28, 2011, a social worker identified as Paramesh of Kumaraswamy Layout was hacked to death by Sharath, Ravi, Praveen, Pradeep and others. They were suspected to be the associates of Ravi. After the murder, Ravi vacated his house in Jayanagar T Block and shifted to a  place near Ragigudda. Meanwhile, accused Balu Murugan, a relative of Paramesh, assumed that Ravi was protecting the killers of Paramesh and allegedly hatched a plot to eliminate Ravi. Along with the other accused, he murdered Ravi,” the police said.
