BANGALORE: A man was killed and two others sustained fractures in two separate road accidents on Wednesday evening.

A BMTC bus knocked down an apparel shop owner and injured another person near Shell petrol bunk on Mysore Road in Byatarayanapura.

The deceased has been identified as Ramalingam, 42, a resident of Flower Garden near Vinayaka theatre on Mysore Road. Ramesh, 32, who was riding pillion, sustained fracture in his leg in the accident.

A BMTC bus plying between Majestic and Bidadi hit their scooter from behind and due to this, Ramalingam was killed on the spot while Ramesh escaped with injuries. Fearing public wrath, the bus driver fled the scene immediately.

In another incident, Shwetha, a BBM student, was injured and a Swift car was damaged after a container lorry fell on them after hitting the road median. The incident took place at Kottigepalya in Magadi.

The police said that the lorry was going from Sunkadakatte towards Sumanahalli and its driver lost control over the vehicle and rammed into road median before falling on the Swift car which was passing next to it. Shwetha, who was riding pillion on a scooter with her friend, sustained fractures in her leg and has been hospitalised at a city hospital.
