BANGALORE: A 24-year-old labourer, who allegedly kidnapped his minor lover was caught and beaten up by the girl’s father and public. The girl was rescued, while he was arrested by the Kamakshipalya police.

The accused Shekhar Kumar, a native of Jharkhand and, is a resident of Sunkadakatte. He is accused of kidnapping an eighth standard student of New Baldwin High School in Sunkatakatte. According to the police, Indudevi, the victim’s mother, and the accused were employees of the same factory.

Shekhar used to visit her house and gradually fell in love with the victim, who was also reportedly interested in him. On Saturday morning, Shekhar went to the victim’s  school and asked her to accompany him, to which the girl had consented.

They roamed around the city and at about 2 pm he took her to an abandoned factory near his room.

“He assured the girl they would return soon and locked her up. Meanwhile, Indudevi was anxious as her daughter had not returned home and she informed Manoj, the victim’s father.

As the couple suspected Shekhar’s role, Manoj went to the former’s room along with his friends and asked Shekhar about the victim. Realising that the matter had turned serious, he revealed that he had locked the girl in the factory and took them there. After seeing the girl locked in the factory, Manoj along with the public thrashed Shekhar. Later, he was handed over to police,” the police explained. Shekhar revealed that he was in love with the girl and had planned to elope with her. Even the girl was in love with him but was not aware of his plans. Shekhar has been booked under section 363 and 365 of the IPC. He is remanded to judicial custody.
