BANGALORE:  Two brothers drowned in the Nagarakere Lake in Doddaballapur on the outskirts of the city on Sunday. The boys were minors and had reportedly gone for fishing along with their friends.

The deceased have been identified as Rajashekar, 13, and Suresh, 12. They were residents of Karenahalli in Doddaballapur and were students of eighth and seventh standard respectively.

According to the police, the duo had gone to the lake along with some other friends for fishing. Meanwhile, Suresh accidentally plunged into the lake and started drowning.

Seeing his brother drown, Rajashekhar in a bid to rescue him jumped into the lake and both drowned.

As they did not return home, their father Ashwathanarayan complained that his children were missing. Police learnt that the duo had drowned  and launched a rescue operation.

On Monday morning, both the bodies of the duo were fished out. After conducting post-mortem at Doddaballapur Government Hospital, the bodies were handed over to their parents.
