BANGALORE: Three including two women ended their lives in separate incidents. Vijayalakshmi (23), a resident of Subbanna Garden fifth cross, ended her life by hanging herself at her residence on Tuesday afternoon. A native of Banahatti near Bagalkot, she was married to Vijaykumar, a software engineer at a company in Whitefield, for three years. The couple had a two-year-old daughter, Varshini.

The police said that her neighbours heard the child crying and went to her house only to find her mother dead. Her husband had gone to office and only the mother and daughter were at home when the incident took place. The reason for the suicide is yet to be ascertained.

The body was shifted to Victoria Hospital mortuary, where an autopsy would be conducted on Wednesday. Vijayanagar police have registered a case.

In other case reported in Tavarekere police station limits on the outskirts of the city, Kumari (22), a resident of Ganjam near Srirangapatna, was found hanging in an under construction building in Tunganagar. It is suspected that the woman had come to the city in search of her lover. The incident came to light when the construction labourers returned for work on Tuesday morning.

The police identified the body after they found the phone number of Kumari’s sister Hema in the former’s purse. After Hema asked the police to check for a tattoo of the name Mani and Vinod on the hand of the deceased, the police confirmed that it was Kumari’s body. She had left the house without informing her family members on Monday morning.

“The reason for the suicide is yet to be ascertained. It is suspected that she was dejected after she did not find her lover. It could not be ruled out that her boyfriend might have brought her there and she might have killed herself after he dumped her. Investigations are being done in various angles,” the police added.

Tavarekere police have registered a case and are investigating.

In yet another case reported in Madiwala police station limits on Tuesday morning, Madanraj (20), a private employee, hanged himself at his friend’s residence in Mangammanapalya. A resident of Shikaripalya near Hebbagodi, Madanraj had gone to his friend Nandish’s residence in the morning. After the latter left for work, his wife Suma went to the first floor and Madanraj hanged himself on the ground floor.

The reason for the suicide has to be investigated.
