BANGALORE: Miscreants smeared black paint on the board of the park named after late actor Dr Vishnuvardhan at JP Nagar on Monday. The residents who were taking a morning walk were shocked to see the board smeared with black paint.

When a few residents pointed this out to the local cops, they immediately took stock of the situation to avoid a possible uproar amongst ardent fans. “We heard about this incident from a few people in the area and immediately rushed to the spot. It is the doing of a few miscreants who aimed at creating a problem in the area,” said a cop attached to Tilak Nagar Police Station.

While many fans from the city remained ignorant about the issue, a few others living around the park urged the cops to nab the culprits. “It is important to punish the people who are behind such acts, lest they continue roaming fearless. We initially got to know that they had smeared black paint on the idol of Dr Vishnuvardhan. When we reached the spot, it wasn’t so. Only the park’s board was smeared with black paint,” said Nagesha, a resident from the area.

Meanwhile, the family of the late actor have downplayed the incident, although reiterating that such acts could easily get out of hands. “I have a feeling that this is not a deliberate act done with an agenda. It looks like some random miscreants trying to fool around. I do not know who to blame but this surely shouldn’t happen again,” said Keerthi Aniruddha, Dr Vishnuvardhan’s daughter.

The cops in the area are now looking into the matter.

“We are trying to find out who could be behind this but since this happened in the middle of the night, it might not be entirely possible to nab the culprits,” cops said.
