BANGALORE: Three former mayors of the BBMP,  criticised the Ruling Party for demanding Rs 2,000 crore from the state government to take up various developmental works. Addressing a press conference on Friday, three former mayors- J Huchappa, M Ramachandrappa and P R Ramesh charged that the state government never bothered to release grants to the BBMP.

Stating that developmental works in Bangalore was carried out mainly from the funds released by the Centre, the former Congress mayors slammed the Ruling Party that the demand for grants was just an eye wash.

Alleging that the BBMP was soaked in corruption, he said that the current financial condition was due to the large scale misappropriation of funds and they did not have any moral right to seek funds either from the state or Centre.

The government had promised to take up various developmental works including construction of overbridges but the state government had not released any funds in the last three years.
