BANGALORE: Shanta Wadhwani Centre for Cardiac and Neural Research was inaugurated on the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) campus on Wednesday. The  centre aims to support world-class research in regenerative biology.

Dr Romesh Wadhwani, chairman, Wadhwani Foundation said “For India to have a true powerhouse economy with sustainable 8 per cent to 10 per cent annual economic growth, it needs to be a global leader in innovation. We aim to scale up the research ecosystem in India to be at par with international level.”

 Professor K Vijay Raghavan, director of  National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) added, “This is an important development and can address biomedical questions with support from philanthropy.”
