BANGALORE: A baton relay was recently held in the city as part of Basavanagudi Aquatic Centre’s Silver Jubilee celebrations. The relay commenced from Kanteerava Stadium and finished at Basavanagudi Aquatic Centre (BAC), covering a distance of four kilo metres. More than 1,000 swimmers as well as parents took part in the event. The relay was flagged off by Dr V Chandrashekar, IAS, Director of Youth Services and Sports, Sports Authority of Karnataka. Former minister P G R Sindhia, President of Karnataka Olympic Association K Govindaraj and well known atheletes such as Nisha Millet, Ashwini Nachappa, Rehan Poncha and others were present.

The relay baton was handed over by Dr V Chandrashekar to Neelakanta Rao R Jagdale, President of BAC at a colourful ceremony. The baton relay started from Kanteerava Stadium and ended in Corporation Circle covering Town Hall, J C Road and Basvanagudi.
