BANGALORE: Irritated after a woman police inspector did not let her watch a cricket match, a woman claiming to be wife of an IAS officer, slapped and assaulted the inspector in public.

The ugly scene was reported at Chinnaswamy Stadium where CCL match was held on Sunday.

Halasur Gate Woman Police Station Inspector Anjumala T Nayak was allegedly assaulted.

However, sources said that the higherups in the Police Department were trying to hush up the case.

According to sources, Anjumala was deployed at gate number 1 of the stadium.

“A woman along with her daughter tried to enter the stadium without valid pass.

The woman had only one pass and asked the Inspector to allow both inside claiming that she was the wife of an IAS officer.

When the Inspector refused to oblige, the woman contacted KSCA members and went inside,” source said.

“A few minutes before the match got over, the woman, picked up a quarrel with the Inspector, and after a heated argument, assaulted on the Inspector,’’ the sources added.

The woman also allegedly hurled abuses at the other Police officers.

Additional Commissioner of Police (Law & Order) T Suneel Kumar visited the spot.

The Inspector filed a complaint with Cubbon Park Police
