BANGALORE:  Journalist associations have strongly condemned the attack on the mediamen by advocates.  “The advocates have displayed rowdyism and they should be punished and disciplined. The Chief Justice should intervene and solve the matter,” M A Poonappa, President of the Press Club of Bangalore said.

“There is a systematic gang working behind this incident and the State government has promised to take action on the guilty within three months. This is a welcome move. However, I hope this is not just an eyewash by the government, Rajdeep Sardesai, Editor-in-Chief - IBN18 Network and former President of the Editors Guild of India said in a statement.

Cops Injured: Two cops attached to different police stations were severely injured in the incident.

A N Narasimhaiah of Kodigehalli station and Kiran Kumar of Wilson Garden station have been admitted to NIMHANS.

RMO Banumurthy said, “We have treated all the injured and two police men who were critically injured in the incident.”

Earlier, there were rumours of some policemen’s death, but senior KSRP officials denied them.
