Gallery Sumukha will host Hanging the Walls, a solo exhibition of paintings by artist Sachidananda K J, from Mysore from March 7 and will continue till March 28.

About the artist: Sachidananda’s works are based on living spaces, their role and influence on people and their lives.

For Sachidananda, walls and objects have been a fascinating subject for his paintings and he in fact considers them as portraits of people who live within the space that they share.

Having these walls as reference, he also highlights the impermanency of the material world where what is possessed by us today was possessed by someone else yesterday and will be possessed by another tomorrow.

For him, these lifeless objects are full of ‘life’ for they change their meaning, function, associations accordingly and are the greatest witnesses of time.

Sachidananda K J holds a BFA in Painting from CAVA, Mysore.

After the completion of his formal education, Sachidananda was at the Kanoria Centre for Arts, Ahmedabad and after that he was designing for the print media in Mysore.

He has been a part of several group shows and camps.

To extend his theme beyond his paintings was Vestigium, a solo exhibition of his paintings that was held in an old, unoccupied building in Mysore that was ready to be demolished.
