BANGALORE: Are you aware of the fact that daily food items have medicinal values which can bring immediate relief for basic health problems? Important aspects about ‘mane maddu’ (home medicine) were taught to scores of women at an awareness camp held Sri Lakshmi Ranganatha school premises in Vijayanagar recently. “The camp was conducted by Government Ayurvedic Dispensary of Legislators Home which is functioning under the department of Ayush. This is part of our field work where the importance of Ayurveda is taken to the doorsteps of the people,” Dr Veena Krishnamurthy, medical officer of LH ayurveda dispensary told Express.

According to her, basic food products such as jeera, turmetic, coriander leaves, dhania, lemon, honey, butter milk, ghee have medicinal values. If properly mixed in right proportions they can bring relief to some common problems such as acidity, head ache, joint pain, itching etc.

Asserting that the awareness camps have heen  a success among women, she said such camps will be held all over the city.
