BANGALORE: The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will distribute 21 cars, eight autorickshaws and will give away 50 computer certificates to eligible candidates under a scheme enshrined in the Karnataka Muncipal Corporation act.

Speaking to Express, chairman of BBMP Standing Committee for Education and Sports  Ramesh Raju said, “We want the scheme to reach the eligible candidates. A team of officials compiled the details of candidates and checked for accuracy. The  Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike will give up to `1 lakh subsidy towards vehicle distribution scheme and people who have undergone 6 months’  training at the BBMP computer centres will also be given the certificate. This is job-oriented course for the urban poor.”

The Palike has set aside Rs 10 crore for the social welfare scheme, Ramesh Raju explained.
