Big Bazaar recently launched its Big Bazaar Rajajinagar Family Centre, which is aimed to provide the true meaning of ‘Grahak Seva’. To commemorate the launch, Big Bazaar along with Kannada Superstar conducted a Thulabharam to raise money for charity for underprivileged children.

Superstar Shivanna who is synonymous with ‘Seva’ graced the occasion for Thulabharam which was held at Rajajinagar Big Bazaar today.

This was a unique initiative undertaken to raise charity for the boarding and education of 53 destitute children.  Kannada Superstar Shivanna was more than happy to spearhead this charity campaign.

Shivanna  who is credited with supporting a lot of NGO’s in his personal capacity, encouraged locals from the Rajajinagar and adjoining areas to participate in this charity drive for these underprivileged children from the NGO Manav. The charity drive was open to all and people were encouraged to bring in whatever they liked to donate — either in gifts or cash.

Over 15 children from the NGO Manav charities participated in the Mahathulabharam. Each of these children was made to sit on a Tula and donations were encouraged to be made equal to the weight of the child in the Tula.

Shivanna encouraged customers to participate in the charity and to donate generously to these needy kids.  Shivanna also made a generous first donation to this cause.

Superstar Shivanna said, “The Mahathulabharam was a unique platform to raise money for these underprivileged children. I felt humbled and touched to see so many people donating so generously. It felt really good to see the huge serpentine line thronging to Rajajinagar Family Centre to participate in this charity event. I am really proud and happy to have been assosiated with Big Bazaar for this event.”

Venkateshwar Kumar, Head- South, Big Bazaar said, “The Mahathulabharam is an interesting and different way to celebrate the concept of Seva initiative started in this store. We are extremely thankful to Superstar Shivanna for being the driving force behind this social cause.  Big Bazaar has many more such initiatives and plans wherein our customers will witness the Seva warmth of Big Bazaar.”

Big Bazaar had approached over 20,000 residents (door to door) in the adjoining areas to participate in Mahathulabharam and share the social spirit. Shivanna personally welcomed the first hundred donations from customers.
