BANGALORE: With the ever rising price of gold and the fast paced life, heavy chunky gold jewellery has become passé. This is not to say that it is no longer a treasured option, it is only not a very viable one. With the changing trends in the consumer’s wants and needs many high end jewellery brands are now designing their pieces keeping the concept of light weight jewellery in mind. Gaja’s latest collection Gaja Lite is also based on the same principle.

Speaking about the collection, Rahul Singh, Head Retail and Marketing for Gaja says that the line was crafted keeping the requirements of the youth in mind. “The designs have been stylised in a very contemporary manner to attain a trendy yet chic end product. Because the jewellery is light weight, it does not create a dent in one’s pocket,” he says.

Trendy and chic, the collection is specially crafted in gold and diamond aimed to suit the taste of the professional women of today who likes to sport light jewellery. The collection is an assortment of earrings, pendants, bracelets, neck pieces and rings in the weight range of one to 20 grams of 18 karat to 22 karat gold with prices starting `2,000 onwards.

“Trendy and chic designs form the pivot of the collection’s design concept. We have used a lot of

hearts and roses and combined them with contemporary styles,” he informs.

The line is crafted from a combination  of yellow and white gold with precious and semi-precious stones like aquamarines, amethysts and peridot that add a hint of colour.  Singh also explains that the use of  stones in an ornament reduces the amount of gold used, thereby bring its price down. “To add to the collection’s appeal we have also given a little texture to the gold. The beaten affect, high polish, frosted and matt look are some of the techniques that we have experimented with,” he adds.

“Our chief objective was to create a fashionable yet affordable collection for women professionals who prefer minimal jewellery. With escalating prices of gold every day, consumers are also exploring viable options for buying jewellery since it is considered as an investment as well. Moreover, jewellery is an essential ornamentation specifically for Indian women and Gaja Lites is a reasonable priced gold and diamond collection with contemporary designs that will be appealing to all age groups,” he says.

The collection can be easily doubled as office or for evening wear. The collection is also suited for college goers and for everyday use.
