BANGALORE: Of late, many escort companies, operating in and around Bangalore have been allegedly hosting bold tweets about ‘escorts for hire’ at affordable prices and in record time.
Troubled by these messages, when some ‘tweeple’ posted messages against this and Express alerted the Cyber Crime Police department and the Central Crime Branch (CCB), officials started investigating the matter.
“In most of such cases, we found out that 99 per cent of the time, pimps (agents) were looking at getting their own commission for escorts. We will now investigate the matter, with help from the Cyber Crime Police department and eventually look at trapping the ring leaders, who manage the entire business,” said Anand Kabburi, Inspector in CCB’s Women and Narcotics Wing.
Further, the Cyber Crime department has planned to track down the IP address of the account holder to crack the case.
The twitter account reportedly gets over a million clicks every day and attracting attention across the country for the bold status messages. Further, obscene photos of escorts too have been uploaded and are sending disturbing vibes across the social networking sites.
“Every time I log in, the status messages are all over the home page. Though none of my friends or me have chosen to follow this account, we keep getting updates,” said Sahil, who regularly tweets.
CCB officials stated that they received many complaints of this nature in the last few months.
“Of late, we have been getting many such complaints and now we are trying to reach the bigger criminals and agents, through the small agents we have trapped recently. Our eventual aim is to rescue the women,” added Kabburi.
