Mastering her craft

Some consider it sacred; some, the symbol of purity and for still others it is synonymous with prosperity, wisdom and fidelity.

The peacock means many things to many people-beauty, grace, rejuvenation and immortality.

Alpana Gujral encapsulates these multiple facets of the peacock’s proud spirit with Neelaya.

Royal blues, iridescent greens, the brilliance of diamonds and the subtle sheen of gold, are transformed into creations as immortal as the very peacock itself.

Evoking the essence of the values embodied by the magnificent peacock, Neelaya showcases fine jewellery with a distinct identity creating sheer poetry with embellished collars, cuffs, earrings, cocktail rings resplendent with the auspicious peacock motif.

Alpana Gujral a jewellery designer from New Delhi, has been arduously perfecting her craft for over 25 years.

A graduate from the Delhi School of Art, she has worked closely with master craftsmen from Rajasthan to develop her signature style of jewellery — a fusion of traditional styles with contemporary forms.

Each of Alpana’s collections consists of individually handcrafted and limited edition pieces; an assortment of earrings, necklaces, cuffs, bracelets and rings.

Each piece requires four to six months to craft.

Her collections have been exhibited and sold in various cities around the world like New York, San Francisco, London, Hong Kong and Dubai.

India, however, continues to be her inspiration and mainstay from where she sells to exclusive markets in all major cities.

Her work is frequently described as an alliance of contemporary and classic styles, a mixture of oriental splendour and baroque exuberance, and an innovation in the art of jewelry design.

Her collection will be available at Evoluzione on March 27 and 28.
